Originally the FDA approved Sculptra for use in HIV+ patients whose medication caused facial fat atrophy. The cosmetical indication was obtained shortly thereafter. The approval of Sculptra allowed Anushka Spa & Cosmedical Center to restore the loss that we see happening during the aging process. Areas of concern range from bone loss, fat loss, collagen loss, loss of elasticity, etc. While it cannot regrow bone or fat, Sculptra can be carefully placed in specific areas resulting in super growth of collagen. The growth of collagen will mimic the bone foundation as well as the fat softness. The growth of new collagen results in a much firmer, more youthful look due to the health and robust nature. Procedure for Sculptra

What To Expect After Sculptra

Most people can return to their normal daily activities after Sculptra injections. Swelling, bruising and other side effects are usually mild and subside within a few days. Doing the following will help speed along your recovery:
  • Apply a cold pack to the affected area for a few minutes at a time within the first 24 hours.
  • Following treatment, massage the area for five minutes at a time, five times a day, for five days.
  • Avoid excessive sunlight or tanning beds until any redness and swelling resolved.

Preparing for Sculptra

There is no special preparation required for Sculptra. To reduce the risk of bleeding, talk to Dr. Bonnie at Anushka Spa & Cosmedical Center to verify whether or not to stop taking NSAIDs such as aspirin, ibuprofen, and naproxen a few days before treatment.

Are There Any Risks or Side Effects?

You can expect some swelling and bruising at the injection site. Other common side effects include:
