Body Sculpting 101: What It Is And How It’s Done

What is body sculpting, and how is it done? These are great questions, and we’re excited to answer them for you! If you’re searching for a truly effective, non-surgical treatment that will not only aid fat reduction but will also help with contouring and skin tightening, you’re going to want to read on.

In this post, we’re going to talk you through everything you need to know about body sculpting, from what you can expect from the treatments themselves to the results they deliver and everything in between. We’ll even talk you through our top recommended sculpting treatments and explain why we’re confident they’re exactly what you’ve been looking for.

What is Body Contouring?

If you’re asking yourself, ‘What’s body sculpting, and is it different from body contouring?’ The answer is no. These are two different terms for the same treatment. We just thought we’d clear that up since you’ve likely heard both terms whilst doing your research!

Body sculpting/contouring is a catch-all term that refers to beauty treatments that work to diminish stubborn pockets of fat on the body. You know, the areas that, no matter how well you eat or how hard you work out, just won’t budge? (We’re looking at you, love handles!) By removing or melting away these stubborn areas of fat, we can reshape/contour the body resulting in a slimmer, more defined appearance.

What Are My Options For Non-Surgical Procedures?

If body contouring has piqued your interest, you’re certainly not alone. Generally, however, going under the knife can understandably feel like a scary idea to many of us. Luckily, non-surgical procedures do exist and are incredibly effective in the elimination of stubborn fat areas. Enter, SculpSure, Viora Reaction, and Venus Legacy.

Though each uses a different technique, neither of these treatments involves going under the knife in any way. They are each designed to destroy small areas of unwanted and unneeded fat cells beneath your skin. Plus, you’ll remain relatively comfortable throughout either procedure.

How Do SculpSure, Viora Reaction, and Venus Legacy Work?

Treatments vary a bit, but they are intended to heat layers of fat below the skin to a temperature that allows them to effectively ‘melt’ away. From here, these fat cells will drain out through your lymphatic system and be permanently removed from your body.

You could be thinking this all sounds too good to be true, and we get that! However, once you understand just how these treatments work, we’re pretty confident you’ll want to make an appointment immediately.

Body Sculpting with Venus Legacy

Firstly, a Venus Legacy treatment involves a handheld device that produces multi-polar radiofrequency and pulsed electromagnetic fields. This device works over the skin producing enough heat beneath the surface to shrink fat cells as well as increasing collagen production and elastin fibers. That way, your body will not only look more contoured, but your skin will also look and feel tighter. Even your cellulite will appear reduced!

In addition, the Venus Legacy treatment also has the option to include. VariPulse™, a pulsed suction that works to pull the skin taught. This allows the multi-polar radio frequencies to penetrate deeper into the skin, rendering them even more effective!

Additionally, this treatment is safe for all skin types and is also pain-free. You will feel a warming sensation and suction, however.

The Results

With Venus Legacy, treatments are once a week. Most clients see results within as little as six treatments (per area). This may differ slightly from person to person and will, of course, depend on the areas you’re having treated.

Body Sculpting with SculpSure

Much like Venus Legacy, SculpSure treatments consist of heating below the surface of the skin to ‘melt’ away fat cells and permanently eliminate them from your body. What’s different is, that rather than a handheld device being moved over your concern area by a technician, SculpSure involves securing applicators to the area in a static position for the duration of the session. Once connected to the SculpSure device, your treatment will begin with the touch of a button whilst the applicators do their thing. Once the treatment is over, they will simply be removed.

In terms of sensation, at the start of your treatment, you will notice a cooling feeling for around 3-4 minutes. This is followed by intermittent sensations of intense warmth and cooling for the rest of the treatment time. This may be a little uncomfortable but is not usually considered painful. Afterward, your skin will not be warm to the touch, and any discomfort usually subsides as soon as treatment is over.

The Results

Following a SculpSure treatment, you can expect to see initial results around six weeks post-appointment and optimal results at roughly 12 weeks!

Body Sculpting with Viora Reaction

Viora Reaction is a new non-invasive body sculpting treatment that uses radiofrequency energy to heat the skin and stimulate collagen production.

Think of it as a personal trainer for your skin. The cutting-edge, bipolar radiofrequency device helps reduce body circumference and tightens the stretched-out muscles to give you that smoother, toned look you’re going for! It’s the only treatment that not only helps reduce fat but also treats scarring and stretch marks too.

The Results

Most people get between five and 12 treatments, with the most visible results generally within two months.

How long do body contouring treatments take, and how many will I need?

Happily, you won’t need to carve much time out of your day to get a body contouring treatment! Most body sculpting treatments last no more than 30 minutes per session, with some taking only 15 minutes depending on the area being treated.

For Venus Legacy, you can expect to need around 6-8 treatments per area and around 5-12 for Viora Reaction. For SculpSure, however, you’ll usually only need one or two.

Is there a lot of downtime required following these procedures?

Now, onto another reason these treatments are so favorable within the beauty world: If you can believe it, there’s absolutely no downtime required afterward!

How? Since these treatments, as we’ve covered, are non-surgical, once your treatment is over, you can simply carry on with your day as usual! No need to take time out of your busy schedule or book days off from work as you would with invasive surgical procedures. These treatments slot neatly into your life and are over the moment you leave your appointment.

It is worth noting that possible side effects from the treatments, mainly SculpSure, may include slight swelling and soreness around the treated areas. That said, this usually resolves itself very quickly.

Does body sculpting hurt?

This is a question we get a lot. And the answer is no! Unlike surgical procedures, body contouring treatments are non-invasive and therefore don’t require any form of anesthesia. This means that you won’t experience much if any, discomfort during your treatment. Many people find the treatments to be quite relaxing!

What areas can I treat with body sculpting?

One of the best things about these technologies is that they can be used on pretty much any area of the body! Common areas people like to treat include:

  • Arms
  • Legs
  • Buttocks
  • Stomach
  • Flanks
  • Back
  • Double chin
  • Upper arms
  • Jawline
  • Thighs

Is body sculpting body positive?

When it comes to feeling like your best self, we will, of course, always recommend starting from the inside out. When you feel good on the inside, i.e., you’re eating well, staying hydrated, and getting enough sleep and exercise, that’s always going to show on the outside.

That said, that doesn’t mean that from time to time, we don’t want to tweak certain things about our physical appearance. At times like these, we ask ourselves the question, are treatments like this body positive? Our thoughts? As long as you’re approaching beauty treatments from a place of self-love and wanting to feel your best self, you’re on the right track. If you find you’re only looking for a way to change your appearance because you’re unhappy with yourself. Take some time out before you go changing anything cosmetically.

If you’re unsure, try thinking of beauty treatments like these as an enhanced version of buying a new sweater. Buy the sweater because it makes you feel amazing and is celebrating your shape—don’t choose it because you’re unhappy with your figure and are trying to cover up what’s underneath!
